July 4th was cool. I went to the Lee's house, where I swam, played ping pong, and gamed until the morning hours. Oh yeah, I also lit off quite a few fireworks. The most memorable of which was a thing of 1000 firecrackers. It was a minute of deafening explosions and cool smoke rings.

This weekend was the church campout. I have to say that I expected more. We drove 300+ miles to a campground that wasn't much different than one 15 miles away. I had hoped that we would be in some random spot in the forest, surrounded by wild beasts and such, not RV's. But the fellowship was good and the crayfish (crawfish, crawdads) were plentiful. On the way home we stopped by in Duluth and saw an airshow. It was intense. Those planes have such maneuverability and speed. I definitely want to see it again next year.

Baseball is over for me. Not for the team but I'm going to miss the rest of the season due to camp. Which in association with many other people being gone puts the team in dire straits. You see, no one on our team knew about the playoffs. I, along with many others, looked at the schedule at the beginning of the year and saw our last game as July 6th. So, we made our plans for vacations and such. Then last week our coach mentioned that the playoffs started July 20th. Well to sum it up, there were 14 people on the team to begin with, 7 will be gone. Hmmm, that doesn't equal 9. Silly coach.

I give up

So I decided against beer since it's just empty calories. Therefore I grabbed the nearly empty bottle of Capt Morgan. A little later while at the computer, I looked around the for the yet untouched (by me, tonight) bottle and couldn't find it. I gave up.

I just knocked it over with my foot.

Anyway, let's talk hockey. So the first game I got kind of rocked, as expected. I think we lost 13 to 5. I played quite well, despite the score. It was fun. The second game, I didn't do as well. Must have been tired. The first game was the best one-hour workout that I had in a long time, so it's reasonable. Anyway, I played fairly crappy, and my team was a little flat compared to normal. We ended up winning something like 15 to 14 or something after being behind most of the game.

It's adult rec league, the score is always high. That's darn near 30 goals-against in one night though. :) I am awesome.

I plan on going pro real soon.

Anyway, I better get back to what I was doing. Yes, facebook.

No, I'm done with that. For those who did, WHOOP!

It was more fun than I expected actually. I arrived at 5 PM on Friday and got checked into the hotel. Then I hit the grocery stores with my pops where we got the basics: bread, cheese, carrots, vegetable dip, milk, orange juice, and caffeine-free Pepsi. I also swung into K-Mart to see if they had an adapter for a PS2 unit, which Josh and I brought along. But, much to my dismay, they didn't. Then we slept until 7:30 when the bible study began. It was given by Mr. Mike Ellertson on the book of Esther. It was pretty interesting. He brought up some neat facts about where it fits in the whole timeline of things (between Ezra 6 and 7). Afterwards I fellowshipped until 9:30, at which time the Rankins arrived and the party started! Not really, but I did get a chance to talk to them for awhile. At about 10 I went to bed to get a sufficient rest for the big day...

6:50 AM, I'm up and ready to go. Why so early? I still don't know. I made a pot of coffee and waited until my Dad and Josh got up. When they did (around 7:40), we headed out to the hall (2 miles away) to help set up. That took about 45 minutes and afterwards I went to eat the Hearty Platter. It was a decent breakfast buffet; nothing special. When I finished eating, I headed back to the hotel and caught a quick nap before getting ready for services.

The service went quite well. Mr. Lovelady gave the sermonette on our "sight". Not just physical sight. Mr. Millich gave the sermon on parenting, so I didn't pay as much attention as I normally would have...

When services were over, I talked for about 30 minutes. Then I had to assist in the taking down/setting up process, once again. When that was finished, there was a two hour break until the meal. That was spent talking to Elsie and Cathy (woot!). They taught me the "elevator jump" and Cathy made the alarm go off. At 5:30 we set off back to the main hall and ate "Chuckwagon Surprise" and "Trail Delight" , something to that effect, both of them were DELICIOUS. When the meal was over I had the opportunity to again assist in the take down/set up process. That's when the talent show began. I won't make many comments about it because a few would end up being mean. Jake Wilson, Lisa Kreyer, Leona Dorothy and Terri Dorothy had good acts. That's all I'll say.

Then... once again... I had the opportunity to assist in the take down/set up process. This time it was to clear the dance floor. The dance was pretty short, lasting only an hour and a half, but it was fun. I got to dance with all of the Ranking sisters, stepping on Ann's foot numerous time (sorry), while trying, and failing, to avoid the little children running about the dance floor. Finally I just starting tripping the innocent toddlers (Insert Evil Laugh Here). When the dance ended I got to do what? You guessed it, take down and set up for the breakfast the next day. That night I hit the hot-tub, pool, and sauna. It was refreshing. I ended up getting to bed at about 1 AM. Not bad, I guess.

Sunday morning I went immediately to the breakfast and ate french toast with turkey ham. Afterwards I went back to the hotel and watched ESPN. Then when my mom and Josh got up I went back to the hall to eat breakfast, again. At around 1 PM they started clearing the hall, and this time I managed to avoid cleaning up. When that was over I went to Taco Bell with Josh, my mom, Jon, Desiree, Martin, Kristin, Jeremy, and Ann. I ate too much and then got in the car and headed home...

Now I have to write a paper for English. It should go okay because I'm wired from an energy drink.
P.S. Read Annette's blog for an explaination for the title.

I'm Back....

The end of Spring Break is drawing near for me. Only one more day and the weekend before school begins once again. This spring break was slightly odd because in Ellsworth we got nearly 22" of snow. It seems that this conundrum should have occured during Winter Break. But whatever, I just spent my 4 days shoveling snow. Which wasn't so bad because it offset the oversleeping, overeating I did. I should be getting in shape for tennis but food tastes better and sleep is easier. Though I did play tennis with Josh twice this week. It was a lot of fun. I enjoy the extra reach and speed that came with my 4 inches of growth since last tennis season. I am also able to hit a one-handed backhand because of the strength that I have aquired from lifting weights. This season should go very well. I hope it does because it will be my only year of tennis (baseball is moving from summer to spring in '07).
Besides shoveling, sleeping, eating, and tennis, I haven't done much. Tomorrow I plan on doing some serious Bible reading because I didn't do as much as I could have this week. Which is rather foolish, seeing that I had plenty of time. Anyways, I just want to let all you guys and girls who read this blog know that I appreciate it. It's nice to have devoted friends like you.

KC Weekend

Where do I start...
Friday would make sense. After a 9 hour drive we arrived at the Days Inn at around 4:30. Josh and my mom went out to return some dress shoes because Josh's were falling apart and he had only had them since the feast. Jeff, the Lee boys, and I stayed at the hotel and sat around for awhile. When Josh got back we went to the Bible Study. It was incredible seeing all the kids from camp and the feast. I was able to talk with people for about 35 minutes before the Study began. Mr. Millich gave it on the book of Proverbs. It was interesting.
After it got over we had about an hour to fellowship. Then we went out to eat with the Lees and Kreyers. A move I still don't understand, seeing as we go out to eat with them all the time back home. When we got back to the hotel I found the Flarp. You can read about that on Josh's blog. Anyways, that was fun throwing around for awhile.
Saturday morning I got up before anyone else in the room so I went down to the breakfast. It was mediocre, but I did get to talk to Charles which is always a treat. Then I went to church services where, the same as last year, it was completely packed. We were able to find some seats in the back. Mr. Smith gave an excellent sermonette on Fellowship and Mr. Solomon gave an equally good sermon about being the "Salt of the Earth." (Matthew 5:13) After services we were slightly rushed to leave because the dance wasn't at the school as it was last year. Which also meant they were not going to have a meal. After asking around we decided on going to the Macaroni Grill, a local Italian place. The food was good and we finished with plenty of time to spare before the dance, but the waiter was a rookie and had an extremely difficult time splitting the bill into 4 tabs. It took over 35 minutes to get that straightened out. That brought us to 6:10 PM and the dance had started at 6. The Lee boys still had to change into their costumes which were back at the hotel. We ended up missing the firs 45 minutes of the dance.
The dance itself wasn't too bad. I didn't feel like dancing much but I did anyways. Afterwards Josh along with a bunch of other people went to the Wilson's place. The Lee's and I went back to the hotel and ate vast amounts of ice cream while watching Ultimate Fighting until 3 AM. It was pretty cool.
Sunday we went to the basketball tourney. My team was rather lacking in the height category. Todd Ries was the tallest player coming in at a monstrous 5'9". The other players were Darren Lee and Ben Graham. We lost our first game to Josh, Martin, KARL (seriously, how were we supposed to win), and Mike Heykoop. I can't remember the score but it was pretty bad. Karl is actually quite good at basketball. He can both ball-handle and shoot well for someone of his tremendous height. The other game was slightly better. They had Kyle Gilchrist, Juan Bermudez, and two other people who I don't know. That game was 11-6. I had 4 points and Darren had the other 2. After we lost those two we just shot around for a couple hours with a pick up game every now and then.
Right now I'm in Cedar Rapids at my sister's place. "Basketball is an easy sport." "I don't need to keep in shape from football." After practice. "Oh, my precious lungs and muscles. My must you burn so?" It was quite pathetic. During all the conditioning my lungs felt really weird. It reminded me of hockey when I was breathing cold air the whole practice. It was strange. I still know that hockey practices were by far the hardest and most demanding. I've never been more worn out than after a hockey practice. Our basketball coach told us that we would be running much more next practices. YAY! If only the internet didn't do so much injustice to sarcasm...
School. Why do I even go? Someone please tell me that it gets harder as I go. Please. It's just sad. I haven't had one difficult class as of yet. Geometry I've heard might be mildly challenging at some points but overall nothing I can't handle. Spanish, a cool language, my spanish teacher... Well not so much. Imagine trying to teach spanish with a british accent. A strong one at that. She never is able to control the class. Constantly saying "Can we quite down guys?". She doesn't punish people at all. Peole like her make the schooling experience sooo much better.
Life as a whole seems to be going well. X-mas season has begun. While sitting out during choir, I'm actually quite surprised that people don't ask more questions. Oh well.
That's all everyone.

Battlefront 2

This is Kerr.
If anyone has played Star Wars Battlefront 2, let me know how it is. The weather was excellent the entire time. I don't think there was ever more than a light sprinkle for precipitation. Highs in the mid 60's and lows in the 30's.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The teen activity was very enjoyable. There were 36 teens in attendance. We had pizza, played a few games, & then went on a 3 mile (or so) hike to the top of a large hill. On the way back Josh Kerr, Sharon Rowbal, Derek Lee and I went down the opposite side of the hill than the main group. Along the way Derek found an old frisbee. We tossed it around for awhile until we got to the bottom. At the bottom of the hill was a small river which all of us could cross except Derek who couldn't get his foot dirty becuase of the recent surgery on his toe. So Josh had to cross back over and give him a piggyback ride across. Since we were in a small group and could move quickly we ended up being 10 minutes ahead of the main group. So during that time we threw the frisbee around until Sharon decided for some unknown reason the hurl the frisbee back across the river (she says it was an accident). Josh and Sharon looked for it but couldn't find it. So we were forced to pass the time with stick fights. Sharon and I were up first. I grab a tiny twig as a joke and toss Sharon a larger branch. I pretended to fight for a little bit until she started swinging really hard. I ran away so she throws the branch at me a hits me in the knuckles. It was quite painful. After that the group caught up and we finished up the rest of the trip together.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The family day took place at an indoor go-kart place. I only raced once on the go-karts because there was only one track and two types of karts so they had to take turns. But there was paintball and batting cages so that's where I spent my time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Formal Dance was excellent. I helped set up for it. That helped me to appreciate the incredible amount of planning and work involved to put something like that together. It turned out really well. The song selection was good and the entertainment was quite enjoyable.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The messages given throughout were amazing. Mr. Gilchrist gave a sermon on how important we are to God, how compared to the universe we are a "bacteria on a grain of sand." But God still has a tremendous plan for us. He takes the time to teach us and give us every chance to follow His ways. That was the sermon that sticks out most to me but Mr. Monson, Mr. Millich, Dr. Fall and Mr. Ehmen gave great sermons as well.

I was to lazy to make an entirely new post for my blog when I already had a good one youth-web.

I'm an awesome punter.

It's sad really. I check my blog to see if Josh posted on it.
It's time I post one. Let's begin with sports. I saw a NHL hockey game for the first time in 16 months. That was cool. The Vikings are terrible, but what's new? My football team is 5-1 with two games remaining. Both of which should be victories. In my last game I had a 49 yard punt (from the line of scrimmage, I line up ten yards back). Which is quite impressive considering the best NFL punter had an average of 46.9 yards per punt. I was happy about that one.
School is going well. I'm getting above a 99.5% in all of my classes. The only reason I'm not getting a 100% in choir is because I was chewing gum one day. That means I have to go to a concert or musical of some sort to get extra credit to get my grade back up to an A+. As of today my teachers have been informed of the me being gone for the next week and a half. YAY!
I'm really looking forward to the feast. Only one week until it starts. I got two new suits, a new pair of shoes, and a couple new shirts. That's not the reason why I'm looking forward to the feast but it's still nice. Mr. Monson said that there were going to be 30+ teens at Rapid City this year. That is more than last year. There is also going to be a dance, which they didn't have last year.
That's it for now. One of these days I'll have to take some time and write a long, interesting post...
Does anybody know why it doesn't show the indents when I publish my post?

NHL

Experiment #2.
The Minnesota Wild are 1-1 and playing their third game against LA right now. I mean, Joe doesn't post, so what's the harm?
Anyone not like spiders? I usually don't, but they are pretty cool. Garden spiders are pretty cool. They're pretty big and have a neat yellow and gray color pattern. Technically, scorpions are arachnids too, since, ya'know, they have eight limbs. They also have tails.
The things you learn.
Joe is not a fan of spiders. He often cries at the mentioning of the word. The sight of one sometimes sends him into convulsions and such. I've tried to help him get past his unrational fear through exposure. You know, if he sees one, I will pick him up and hold his face to it. Or I'll throw the spider at him, things like that. The only way to get past it is to face it. i'm just helpful like that.

Stupid Computer

I had a nice long post written up but the computer shut-down which resulted in the loss of the post and the loss of the desire to write a long post again. So I'll give a brief summary.
I had a tough football game. We were down 30-28 with 2:40 left in the 4th quarter and then our quarterback decided to throw a couple touchdowns... to the other team. Back to Back interceptions. The people he decided to throw the passes to were MUCH faster than him and had no problem returning them for touchdowns. That was our first loss.
School is easy.
Hayden Hauschildt is very strong. He deadlifted 300lbs six times. That is a lot. I on the other hand was only able to do 165lbs 5 times. Which is by no means bad, just not anything special. Also, if you're trying to max out on squats, be sure you have a competent spotter. That's all I'll say on that.

I'm in Iowa

Well, I'm currently in a hotel room in Iowa. I got to Iowa last night at 9 PM and stayed at my sister's house in Cedar Rapids. Today we had the rehearsal dinner. The food was quite good, but it wasn't enough to sustain me so right now I'm very hungry. I'm formulating a plan with the Lee's to go over to either Taco John's or Burger King. That's all for now, I'll write about the tomorrow's wedding on a later date.

Kerr Says

This is Kerr updating the jester's blog. Thursday and Friday we had pads on and got to hit people. That's so much fun. I have bruises all over my arms, but they don't hurt. We have shorter practices from now on. Instead of 4 1/2 hours, we have 2 hours. It will be nice to have them later in the day. Instead of 7:30 AM it's 3 PM. Getting more rest will be great.
Today was picture and dinner night. The picture taking process was very slow. I had to wait through JV and Varsity before I got my picture taken. It took over an hour and a half before I got my picture taken. The dinner was ok. Everyone brought a salad or hotdish. I ate too much, though.

But football is only one part of my week. On thursday I went to a chicken feed at our local Rod & Gun. That wasn't quite worth the time. It started at 5:30 PM and we got there at 6 PM. We ended up getting # 340. When we arrived they were calling #'s 125 and below. They went by increments of 30. We didn't eat until after 8. The food was good but I wouldn't do it again.

Here are some other random things I did this week. I mowed my lawn, ate a couple sandwiches, looked into the mirror and flexed- At the end of each practice we lift weights. A different routine everyday. They include bench press, squat, clean, arm curls, leg curls, leg extensions, inclined press, dead-lift, and leg press. If anyone is interested I could tell them the weight, rep, and set counts I do for all these lifts. Anyways while I was flexing in the mirror I noticed that my biceps had increased in size quite a bit. I was so excited that I ran downstairs and showed Josh. He didn't share in my excitment. But it was pretty cool, and that's only after one week of practice. Now continuing with random stuff- I ate apples out of our apple tree, ate waaay too much candy, and got really cold watching hockey.

I'm sore.

Football practice started on Monday. Practices go from 7:30 AM to 12 PM. On Thursday we finally get to put pads on and hit people. Now we're just running a lot and lifting weights. It's pretty tough, there were a few times when I thought I was going to throw up. We do a conditioner drill where we sprint around the entire football field. It's 53 1/3 yards (160 feet) across the field and 100 yards (300 ft) down the field. We get 30 second breaks after each time around the field. After doing that 3 times you're pretty winded. We do another drill where the Offensive linemen and the Defensive lineman line up on one sideline and the running backs, receivers, and D-Ends line up on the other. I'm a receiver. The concept is to sprint to the other side and back as fast as you can. The Linemen go first and whatever time they get we have to beat by 6 seconds. They usually get around 22-23 seconds. If we don't get below the 16-17 seconds we have to do an extra one. We do it at least 3 times but we had to do an extra one so we had 4. When we're done with those we get a 10 minute break, afterwhich we do some minor conditioning drills and then go lift weights for 45 minutes. It's a tough regimen.
After football the day goes by pretty quickly. I get home and eat lunch, I might take a short nap, wake up, clean for a little bit, read the bible, and then it's time for supper. I've been getting to bed later then I should be. Usually around 10:30. I should be in bed by 9 so I'll be more rested.

Begin

Joe, this is your blog.
